CLADEC was invited to participate in a meeting of the United Nations agency, Global Rapid Interdiction of Dangerous Substances or GRIDS held in Mexico City.
“The GRIDS Programme aims to measurably reduce trafficking in dangerous substances globally, with a particular focus on dangerous new psychoactive substances (NPS) not yet under international control and non-medical synthetic opioids by:
- Enhancing global communication platforms to facilitate real-time information exchange between Member States on incidents involving dangerous substances;
- Engaging in public-private partnerships, focusing on legitimate industries exploited in the manufacture, marketing, monetization, and movement of dangerous substances;
- Coordinating activities that support multilateral operations, investigations and communication with a focus on newly emerging dangerous substances.”

Frank Santeiro, CLADEC Executive Director, gave a follow-up presentation to the one given virtually at the previous GRIDS meeting in Vienna to which CLADEC was invited earlier this year. Meeting participants included representatives of the UPU, UPAEP, Colombian police, Argentinian drugs investigation department, META, Falabella and some other e-commerce industry associations. They will be inviting AESEP, our association in Panama, to an upcoming meeting to be held there in October of this year.

CLADEC fue invitado a participar en una reunión de la agencia de las Naciones Unidas, Interdicción Rápida Global de Sustancias Peligrosas o GRIDS celebrada en la Ciudad de México.
“El Programa GRIDS tiene como objetivo reducir considerablemente el tráfico de sustancias peligrosas a nivel mundial, con un enfoque particular en las nuevas sustancias psicoactivas (NPS) peligrosas que aún no están bajo control internacional y los opioides sintéticos no médicos al:
- Mejorar las plataformas de comunicación global para facilitar el intercambio de información en tiempo real entre los Estados miembros sobre incidentes relacionados con sustancias peligrosas;
- Participar en asociaciones público-privadas, centrándose en industrias legítimas explotadas en la fabricación, comercialización, monetización y movimiento de sustancias peligrosas;
- Coordinar actividades que apoyen las operaciones multilaterales, las investigaciones y la comunicación con un enfoque en las sustancias peligrosas emergentes.”

Frank Santeiro, Director Ejecutivo de CLADEC, hizo una presentación de seguimiento a la realizada de manera virtual en la reunión anterior de GRIDS en Viena a la que CLADEC fue invitado a principios de este año.
Los participantes de la reunión incluyeron representantes de la UPU, UPAEP, la policía colombiana, el departamento de investigación de drogas de Argentina, META, Falabella y algunas otras asociaciones de la industria del comercio electrónico.
Estarán invitando a AESEP, nuestra asociación en Panamá, a una próxima reunión que se realizará allí en octubre de este año.
